The vet confirmed, due to a broken back he was paralysed in his hind legs. She contacted local shelters for his care, but none could take him, so Penman set up a GoFundMe campaign to fly Leo back to Canada to get the “vet care he needed.”

#4 $7,740 In Donations Are Raised In Three Months!

Leo arrived in Canada, meanwhile donations from Penman’s GoFundMe page poured in and he received the veterinary attention he needed. Next came a search for his new home.

#5 Facebook Page, ‘Help Save Leo’ Spreads The Word.

Alongside the successful GoFundMe page, a “You Caring” foundation was set up to raise money for Leo’s future expenses, such as vet bills.

#6 Lucky Leo Finds A Home!

A woman saw Leo’s Facebook page, and he now happily has found a home with Jamie Smith in Sarnia, Ontario.

#7 He’s Doing Well With His New K9 Cart.

Leo still has the same exuberance he had that fateful day on the beach, and now looks very content in his new wheelchair!
