Transparent nature

A former doctor specializing in radiation physics, Arie van ‘t Riet captured these images using an x-ray camera in his personal studio. There, he built natural scenes, which he calls “bioramas,” implementing creatures that had already passed on (meaning none were exposed to radiation). Here, zeus faber, more commonly known as John Dory.

Monitor lizards climb up a banana tree.

Tulips.

Chameleon climbing a strelitzia (Bird of Paradise flower).

Frog bound for a waterlily.

Poppies.

Turtles, wagnerianus (miniature chusan palm), azalea.

Flowers bloom along the roadside.

Iguanas roam through a pocket of tillandia (air plants).

A coot (water bird) is nearly hidden by iris.

A python slithers around some exotic flowers.

Stingray.

Two roses.

Three mice.

Seagull.

Barn owl.

Monkey.
