This “Water Blob” Is Perfect For Summer Fun… And You Can Make It Yourself!

“Water blobs” are the perfect way to keep kids (and fun adults) entertained and cool during the hot summer months. You can make one quickly and cheaply with these awesome instructions from the blog Homemade Toast. I don’t know about you, but this is DEFINITELY going into my backyard on the first day of summer! You’ll need:

Painter’s plastic/plastic sheeting *4 mil* - any size, but 10×25 works great!
Ironing board and iron
Parchment paper
Duct tape

Turn the iron on to the hottest setting and spread out the plastic on the floor. Fold it in half to the size that you want your water blob to be.

Cut a 2-foot-long piece of parchment paper and fold it in half lengthwise. Then, draw a line about two inches in so you know where to iron up to.

Start with the edge of plastic opposite of the fold, starting at the corner. Open up your parchment and place your plastic inside. Align it to the fold of the parchment.

Slowly melt the plastic by running the iron over the parchment, NOT DIRECTLY OVER THE PLASTIC ITSELF.

Let it cool for a few seconds before removing the parchment. Continue to seal all of the edges and make sure that you don’t leave any holes. After sealing the end opposite of the fold, work from the sealed edge toward the fold.

Put the hose in the blob and prop up the end where the hose enters the plastic so water doesn’t come out.

Fill up the blob (it takes about thirty minutes for one this size) and seal it with duct tape. Add some food coloring to make it even more fun!

This is such a great idea for people of any age! I can only imagine how much the kids love it, though!
