This is Otchan.
He’s a farmer who has 1,200 pigs.
But here’s the thing… Otchan and his pigs are best friends.
They go tanning together…
…napping together…
…and sometimes Otchan serenades them.
It’s clear that the pigs are crazy about their farmer…
…and he’s pretty crazy about them, too.
Otchan’s farm is a beautiful example of a humane alternative to factory farming. Each pig is cared for as an individual, not as an item on a conveyor belt.
With respect and affection, Otchan shows that farming life can be something beautiful.. and pretty darn cute.
I think I’m in love with this man.
All of these photos were taken by Toshiteru Yamaji, a Japanese photographer who lives in the town near Otchan’s farm. He spent years photographing the farmer, and published a book titled Pigs & Papa that features the series.
